Social Events and Tourism

Excursion and Conference Dinner (Wednesday June 26th):
Cruise on the river Rhine in the Rhine Gorge (UNESCO World Heritage Site), passing Lorelei rock, and visit of Sankt Goar with Rheinfels Castle.

We will leave Schloss Waldthausen by bus at 1 pm, traveling to Bingen, a town on the river Rhine to the west of Mainz. There we will board a ship at 2 pm and enjoy the upper Middle Rhine valley on our way to St. Goar, where we will arrive at about 4 pm. After a short promenade up to Rheinfels Castle, we will have a guided tour around 4:30 / 4:45 pm. Sturdy shoes are recommended for the tour. They even recommend a flashlight, so we will take a few along. After the tour we will descend from the castle. A bus will pick us up around 6:45 pm and take us to Ingelheim (between St.Goar and Mainz), where we will enjoy the conference dinner at the brewhouse Goldener Engel. We will be back at Schloss Waldthausen around 11:30 pm.
